What is Medicare?

 Medicare is a federal health insurance program mainly for people age 65 and older. It also covers some younger individuals with disabilities and those with end-stage kidney disease. The program is run by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) and is funded through taxes, monthly premiums, and government funding.

What Is the Medicare Savings Program in Texas?

The Medicare Savings Programs (MSPs) in Texas help people with limited income and resources pay for some of their Medicare costs — like premiums, deductibles, copayments, and coinsurance — so Medicare is more affordable. These programs are run by the state through Texas Health and Human Services.
